Edelman has two different positions available within the program: Trainee and Intern. The Trainee position is applicable to candidates who are currently in school (undergraduate and graduate) and are seeking academic credit or experience unobtainable in the classroom setting. The Intern position is applicable to candidates who have received their degrees and are looking to gain real-world work experience.
Edelman's program is designed to introduce students and recent graduates to the business of public relations and to offer an opportunity to be involved in daily account activities, while learning broader strategies. As active members of a designated account team, Trainees/Interns will acquire "hands-on" public relations experience, gaining exposure to areas such as: media relations, website and press material development, video production, special event and press conference planning, internal strategy sessions, and new business research. Edelman also offers opportunities in other areas, including finance and accounting, human resources, and MIS. Programs and compensation vary at each location.
As an entrepreneurial spirited firm, Edelman seeks candidates who are eager to learn about our business and are interested in a challenging and stimulating environment. We are seeking strategic thinkers with excellent oral and written communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and a firm commitment to the program. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is a must.
The program can be a full or part-time commitment. Each Trainee/Intern will be assigned to a specific business area of expertise, based upon his or her interest and the availability within the group or business unit requested. For Chicago, there are Intern and Trainee openings from January through December. The Intern and Trainee positions range from three to six months in duration.
